About the Workshop

This workshop is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of corruption, anticorruption, and Lebanon’s national anticorruption strategy. We will begin by laying the foundations, exploring the definitions and implications of corruption and anticorruption, and providing a deep dive into the national strategy that guides these efforts. This segment will also include insights into the role of AFDAL—covering how it was formed, who we are, and the pivotal role youth can play in leading change.

Following this, the workshop will offer an in-depth exploration of public procurement—explaining what it is, why it matters, and its crucial role in governance and anticorruption. Participants will gain a clear understanding of why AFDAL has strategically chosen to focus on public procurement, discussing the specific reasons behind this focus and its significance to Lebanon’s anticorruption efforts.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be well-equipped with the knowledge to understand the complexities of corruption and the strategic importance of public procurement in driving anticorruption efforts in Lebanon. This session aims to empower participants to contribute to these efforts, particularly in the context of youth-led change.

Trainer Profile

AFDAL Team

This Training will be delivered by Carine Kordab and Layal Mostafa from Afdal team Carine Kordab, a YLP5 alumna and co-founder of AFDAL, is passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship. She has initiated several startups and won competitions like the MIT Lebanon Challenge. Carine’s entrepreneurial journey also took her to the U.S., where she secured 3rd prize in a Kelley School of Business startup competition. Now, she focuses on combating corruption, leveraging data and emerging technologies. Carine also works at Deloitte in the Cyber Data team and leads initiatives at AFDAL, committed to improving Lebanon. Layal Mostafa, an Electrical Engineer and activist, is dedicated to advancing Lebanon’s anti-corruption reforms through AFDAL, aligning with the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2020-2025). She co-founded Dekenet Al Nes, a grocery initiative promoting affordability, quality, and social responsibility. Layal’s activism and entrepreneurial spirit drive her efforts to create positive change in Lebanon, making her a vital force in the push for integrity and justice in the country.
