Shooting Stars Academy is an award-winning initiative dedicated to empowering young sports enthusiasts, including individuals with disabilities and special needs, to become professional athletes and skilled experts in the sports industry. As the laureate of the TAQA Wellbeing Championship and TAQA Jury’s Choice Award, as well as the winner of the Street Sports Incubator, Shooting Stars has demonstrated its commitment to excellence and innovation in sports. The academy offers a unique blend of personalized tournaments, custom-made educational workshops, and capacity-building programs that focus on sports careers, women empowerment, and inclusion. By providing tailored opportunities for growth, Shooting Stars Academy fosters an inclusive environment where every participant can realize their potential and excel in their chosen field. Recently, Shooting Stars was selected among the Top 25 projects worldwide and Top 5 Finalists in the Sports Track by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), from over 1,950 applications across 90 countries. Through its comprehensive approach, the academy is creating a more equitable sports industry where diversity is celebrated, and all individuals, regardless of their abilities, are given the opportunity to shine.
The Impact Created
Since its inception in 2021, Shooting Stars Academy has made a significant impact by enrolling over 250 participants in workshops that explore the role of sports in achieving sustainable development goals, promoting physical activity, and encouraging good nutrition. These workshops have provided valuable insights into how sports can be a powerful tool for social change and personal development. The academy’s impactful work has been recognized globally, with numerous accolades, including the TAQA Wellbeing Championship, TAQA Jury’s Choice Award, and selection as a Top 25 project worldwide by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). In addition to these achievements, Shooting Stars Academy has also contributed to important discussions on youth empowerment and the role of sports in entrepreneurship. The academy participated as a panelist at the Youth Venture initiative, implemented by GIZ Lebanon and organized by Youth Council Koura, where the focus was on youth empowerment in the sports sector. Additionally, they were panelists at the Sports Innovation Bootcamp organized by the Sports Innovation Lab in Morocco, part of the European Union’s Jeel Connect Network, discussing how sports drive entrepreneurship and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals. Furthermore, Shooting Stars has formed strategic partnerships to further its mission of inclusion and empowerment in sports. Collaborations with Odyssey Sports Association have promoted the culture of volunteering in sports, while a partnership with INJAZ Lebanon has resulted in an Innovation Camp focused on entrepreneurship, sports, and inclusion for 40 young participants. Through these efforts, Shooting Stars is not only enhancing the skills and knowledge of its participants but also contributing to the broader goal of creating a more inclusive and dynamic sports industry that values diversity and innovation.
