CIRCL S.A.R.L is a women-led waste management and environmental consulting company based in Akkar, northern Lebanon. We are dedicated to transforming waste generation and disposal practices through community engagement and educational programs. Our company operates a door-to-door collection service and purchases recyclables through our drop-off center. The collected materials are then sorted, treated, and sold to local industries, promoting a circular economy, and creating green employment opportunities. In addition to our operational activities, CIRCL focuses on community engagement to encourage sorting at the source and reduce littering through eco-friendly activities, competitions, and cleanup campaigns aimed at fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment. We are also invested in education and awareness raising, delivering comprehensive educational programs in collaboration with schools, environmental NGOs, and other stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” approach. We also support municipalities and NGOs through tailored training and consultancy services to implement sustainable waste management systems and design green projects. Overall, our programs and services are designed to empower communities to adopt effective waste management and recycling practices while providing reliable and sustainable waste management solutions.
The Impact Created
CIRCL is making a significant impact by integrating sustainability into community practices. In our first year, we organized over 20 events, engaging more than 1,000 participants through educational sessions and eco-friendly activities. These initiatives, combined with specialized training for municipalities and organizations, have enhanced community engagement and fostered a culture of environmental responsibility. We provide reliable collection services and drop-off options, incentivizing community members to sort and sell their recyclables. The recovered materials are then sorted, treated, and reintegrated into the local production cycle, reducing import costs for local industries and supporting a circular economy. Our services now extend to over 50 SMEs, 5 schools, 6 NGOs, and 250 households, so far diverting 80 tons of recyclables from the Srar Landfill and contributing to a cleaner environment. CIRCL has created 8 local green jobs in Akkar and established 14 strategic partnerships, furthering our commitment to local development. Our participation in COP28 as part of the Lebanese delegation with the Ministry of Environment, highlights our dedication to advancing sustainable practices on a broader scale. We are not just managing waste; we are actively shaping a future where communities are empowered to live consciously and contribute to a healthier planet.
