AFDAL, the Advocacy Force for Development and Anti-Corruption in Lebanon, is a dynamic youth-led initiative committed to advocating for integrity and justice within the country’s institutions. With a mission to advance Lebanon’s anticorruption reforms in alignment with the National Anticorruption Strategy, AFDAL is driven by the belief that true development is intrinsically linked to combating corruption. The initiative operates on the principle that youth are pivotal in leading the charge for transformation and systemic change. By empowering young people to take an active role in shaping a just and transparent society, AFDAL strives to create a Lebanon where integrity is the foundation of all public institutions. Through a combination of advocacy, education, and community engagement, AFDAL not only raises awareness about corruption but also actively contributes to the development of a more accountable and equitable state. United by a shared vision of a better future, AFDAL is at the forefront of Lebanon’s fight against corruption, fostering a new generation of leaders committed to integrity and progress.
The Impact Created
AFDAL has made a significant impact in Lebanon by raising awareness about the pervasive issue of corruption and promoting systemic reforms to address it. Using a scientific and systems-thinking approach, AFDAL has engaged with the complexities of corruption, educating and empowering the youth to become catalysts for change. Over the past six months, the initiative has visited six universities, leading discussions that not only informed students about corruption and public procurement but also encouraged them to join the movement. This engagement has provided a platform for young people to practice active citizenship, with many now volunteering with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and contributing to the ongoing efforts to implement anticorruption reforms. Furthermore, AFDAL conducts targeted workshops and collaborates with public sector entities, including municipalities and ministries, to ensure that anticorruption initiatives are effectively implemented and sustained. By empowering youth and engaging with key stakeholders, AFDAL is driving forward Lebanon’s anticorruption agenda, ensuring that integrity and justice become the cornerstones of development and governance in the country.
